Marble Mortar and Pestle Sets
Anyone who has ground spice by hand knows the difference. A blade chops and heats; a pestle crushes and bruises, releasing oils that a food processor destroys. It is the reason pesto made in stone tastes different from pesto made in a machine.
Why weight matters
A light mortar skids across the counter and you end up steadying it with one hand. Ours are cut from solid marble and are deliberately heavy, so the bowl stays put and both your hands stay on the work.
Marble against granite
Granite is rougher and grinds faster but its porosity holds flavour between uses — grind garlic and your next batch of cardamom carries it. Marble is denser and non-porous, so it cleans completely and stays neutral. It is the better choice if one mortar has to do everything.
Care
Rinse and dry; skip the soap, which stone can absorb. Avoid lemon and vinegar sitting in the bowl. No seasoning or oiling required.
