Marble Elephant Statues & Hand-Carved Figurines
The elephant is the most requested form our carvers make, and it has been for generations. In Indian tradition it stands for wisdom, memory, stability, and good fortune — which is why it is so often given at housewarmings and to mark new beginnings.
Carved and inlaid
Two approaches appear here. Carved soapstone and marble elephants are worked from a single block, some with lattice openwork cut clean through the body — a step where the block is easily lost, and the reason those pieces command more. Inlaid elephants set turquoise, carnelian, or malachite into white marble across the back and headpiece.
Placement
Tradition places an elephant facing the entrance of a home to invite fortune inward, and a pair flanking a doorway is a common arrangement. Practically, they work on entryway consoles, bookshelves, and desks — and the heavier pieces make excellent bookends.
Sizes
From 3-inch desk figurines to substantial display statues. Dimensions and weight are listed on each product page; photographs alone are a poor guide to scale.
